Anyway, that aside (it's a pointless argument as we'll never agree) I can imagine the older TX's sounded better.
I used a CL-1A 25 years ago on a project and it was THE best bass and vocal tracking compressor I have ever used - so musical and "warm" sounding with this amazing envelope - I so which I'd bought it!
I think your 500 series unit looks great - if it sounds as good as it looks - I'll be adding it to my wish list

Sometimes the knowlege about something ist tricky. If you know some gear is vintage, is p to p, you payed a lot of money or has a certain name on it you think it is better. Only way to know is to do a real blindtest. I bet if you have 6 units, all feeded with the same signal with the almost same components and one of them is p to p you are unable to tell which is the p to p in a blindtest.
