@ Michael_ Reaper also runs well on Linux. I set up an old laptop with Manjaro and Reaper ran very well.

The issue you'll have is the Audio interface mixer aplications and DSP. For example my Steinberg UR interface is recognised and works fine... however the on board Zero latency DSP monitor mixer that comes with the windows/ mac version isn't avaiable so you lose the wonderful Rev-X reverbs and zero latency monitoring.

The same will be true for all interfaces with on board DSP monitoring like Total mix FX for RME etc etc.

I understand your feeling about Apple , I share them too but at the moment they're leading the non x86 battle ground with the new M macs.

I'm running an AMD 9950x and it's a great machine, runs cool and silent all day everyday here at the studio and run an M1 Max MBP mobile.
