If you do have the rates you want matched up, the next is that the mixer is putting out Audio (AC) and the sequencer sync input is most likely accepting +5v DC. You might be able to get it to work, but it requires calibration, usually by boosting the audio significantly. The amount will vary since a sequencers input will be stated as +5v, but usually it doesn't take +5v to trigger, the actual threshold is going to be somewhere below that.
One more thing is the sample used as the metronome sound. The one with the fastest attack and broader spectrum will probably be your choice.
It shouldn't be a problem trying though. There's always MIDI Clock.
You can choose between different metronome sounds as well as rhythm patterns, quarter notes, 8th notes etc.
