I'm going to try cleaning shop a bit, rebuilding all my screensets and emptying the cache. it won't take long, I imagine there's something going on in there.

it does sound as though it might be my setup, when I think about it 100 audio tracks shouldn't be making a dent in what the machine is capable of.

there are midi files that I've kept in the template for years for example, which contain the info for the groove templates I use. those may have orphaned data in them and / or meta events that are no longer relevant.
