there are certain ways in which Logic is lagging behind though, some of them are just bugs but they've been known for a very long time and Apple's infrequent updates rarely solve them, and some are UX stuff that's in dire need of improvement.

if you delve into the custom key commands you can generally find ways to get around them but it's a bit silly that they're talking about implementing A.I. drummers when the smart snap mode resembles something closer to 'Artificial Stupidity'. let's see if they've improved it, perhaps they have.

Cubase sounds as though it's worse, for sure, Ableton is better. they've nailed stuff like the smart snap aeons ago so you don't have to use modifiers and so on. it's a small point, but it's something that as a composer and a mix engineer you use every hour of every day, so it needs fixing.

Logic is also very sluggish at times. I'm running an M2 Macbook Air with maxxed RAM and processor. I had a project open yesterday with around 100 tracks, that's not so ambitious in today's world, hardly any processing on the channels, buffer at 512, and the software was starting to crap out at around 80 tracks of audio. my HD is SSD, should be easily capable of streaming the audio on time.

by comparison I've got a project in Cubasis on my phone which has far more VI's, more processing, and all the rest, and it's running like a breeze at very low latency, I think that's quite a bad advert for Logic.

Ableton isn't an improvement, for other reasons, but I'm also struck that bouncing stems, and rendering audio is lightning fast compared to Logic which is also very slow in this respect. let's see if it's improved. not holding my breath.
