Some Creamer+ Love
I have been downsizing my OTB gear as I mix more ITB now. The creamer+ is a piece of gear that I haven't been able to part with. The big smooth sounding pres are great but the effect is has on mixing has become my favorite approach on how I use it. On drum bus try setting the attenuation to -12 db, crank the gain to 100% on pentode mode and put it on a drum bus with fat, air, and transformer applied. With some wet/dry adjustment it opens up the drums in a beautiful way that is difficult to replicate with the best plugins which is saying something now days. When I got it, never thought it would be a go-to for aggressive drums. When not using on drums it excels on the master bus. Having the thick smooth polish along with an excellent sounding EQ just makes it easier to get the rest of the mix together. It took me a few months before I read the manual and saw I could turn down the db for the EQ (air/fat) curves which I did to 75% and I like them better now.
