Funny how pre-amps as DI's and DI's as processors end up being helpful units sometimes.
I saw a guy play the bassline of a cover of "Paid In Full", Eric B and Rakeem, through an old Focusrite ISA channel strip and it was amazing, though I don't know what bass it was. FAT sound, very solid yet didn't get messy. The ratio was at least 10 if not infinite and he went straight into that thing somehow, I don't know the unit well enough to tell you how. So that's using a pre as a DI and then some, quite a result.
my DI's either hit a Tab Funkenwerk V78M then DBX160A (Jim Williams mod) or a Focusrite 215 preamp into innerTube Audio Squeezebox !! oh yeah !! Phat a tat tat
