In the late 90's, I reverted to a Mackie 24-4 for a few years, just to put together an inexpensive home studio. I'd been working for years on large boards; TAC, Sony, SSL, API, Trident, Harrison, etc... and the Mackie sounded just fine, to my ears, FWIW. I did some of my favorite recordings for myself and other clients in those years, recordings that still stand tall today, IMO. That old SOS article is...
