I get that. So in theory you might sell (eg) a "golden compressor" in a series of 20 for $1k each.
What is the appeal for either the end user or the developer over just selling it for $50 or $100? many more times over? Why? Who benefits? One is a closed profit margin - one is open ended. What is the incentive for the developer to keep the plugin maintained? What is the incentive for the end user to "have" this exclusive plugin - why would they spend 10x more when they can buy the equivalent from Waves or Fabfilter or Kush or something and know it'll be supported?
