Fair point and good advice - and I mostly do that it's just... SlickEQ M is already on that channel and it isn't going anywhere - so I thought I'd automate it's input rather than adding another plugin. But only if the fade is smooth and not stepped at 0.1dB.
Admittedly even 0.1dB steps will still sound smooth to the average ear.
