Adding utility to my Drum Machine
I've been starting out on my sound design journey with really just 2 pieces of gear
this consists only of an original TR808 and a semi-high-end 80-s cassette deck.
I sample the 808 out onto various types of cassettes, overdriving the deck input for nice tape distortion and then sampling that tape into my DAW.
Often play around with pitching and slowing the tapes to give cool lo-fi drums. I then sell these mini drum packs for meagre amounts online.
I've saved up some money and now wanting to add another piece of hardware to give me more scope outta this tr808 machine but I'm not sure what that should be.
Maybe a good tube distortion? Or a delay box?
I'm keen to keep it hardware as that's my thing. my inspiration is Gold-baby samples, I like what he[she]/they? do with just minimal equipment, keeping it pure.
What are your suggestions?
