General random observations regarding possibilities......
Mcu/hui/eucon.....Steinberg/yamaha won't utilize. Dead/bandaided/duct-taped horse....which we and sb/yamaha realize.
It would be the sdk remote language utilized in Nuage and dm2000. F***ing tight/complete integration of every f***ing parameter (which isn't exactly here quite yet)....even if not initially offered on hardware, the code is there. As it exists now and will shortly.... via SB's new midi api .... be even "more better" codewise. The underlying foundation of sdk remote+ new api code is the critical part.....which is here basically. And yamaha/sb own it.
I don't feel yamaha has missed any boats. They've been busy with code.
Nuage is currently around $13000 to enter. Dm2000 is around $17000 to enter...or hey....two grand used.
The uf8....to me....looks like ssl perused the general dm2000 layout. As an aside, I thought the rotary knob should be on the left with these things but no....right side is good....even if using left-handed while mouse in right hand.
Uf8 and all the other pile of mcu etc controllers are in the $1000-5000 range. And all compromised in one or more ways.
I can see a $7000 (msrp) sdkremote/new api guided, 16 fader sb-only controller happening. Expandible as the uf8 can do......which is exactly why you don't want transport on each box. Maybe a little optional transport box tapped off a quarter-inch connector that IS on each main box.
Something like that. Seven-grand....in yamaha language....would intuit to me that they'd only offer 8 faders per box but hey....
So seven grand msrp....and the ONLY controller on the planet totally f***ing focused on Cubase/Nuendo/Wavelab etc.
Better than a dongle......better than using brand x daw with a brand z controller that is a compromise.
I can see it. Also yet one more great enticement for people to switch to Steinberg.
I believe there'll be a 2022 January Namm. The Yamaha/Steinberg rooms are first on my visit list.
