I've stopped perusing available controllers, including the new ssl. Limitations discussions coupled with disagreements over feature desires are endless on those threads.
As to focused use with only Cubase and Nuendo, I've been imaginating what Yamaha might come up with in, say, a $6000-$7000 range.....
A Nuage layout but with 8 faders? What gets incorporated from cc121 or Houston (if anything)
Optional add-on units such as meters? (which Yamaha regularly historically invents for their previous mixers/consoles....and a feature massively argued in the ongoing "sad daw controllers" thread.)
Tight integration with cubendo channels etc is a given.
I'm still pondering the previous poster's reference to track colors....yeah, that would be cool.
I'm thinking from this approach....$13000 gets one a set of 16 nuage faders and then you pay more for add-ons to create a larger nuage system.
Soooo....Yamaha brings out an 8-fader version for seven grand, with various optional add-ons that could very well take you up to 13-grand.....at which point, many users would possibly say, ok, now I'm ready to move up to the larger nuage setups brcause I've tricked out the little system as far as it'll go.
Personally, I'm around the full nuage setup (and Greg) every year at namm (when there is a namm) and I get to sit in front of it a lot. It is beautiful but it's tremendous overkill for someone like me....esp since my console is already that big.
So....a baby nuage 8-fader starting point. With a new look to incorporate whatever is/isn't incorporated from cc121 and houston.
That's what I'm thinking.....but within sort of that context, I'm tremendously interested in what others would specifically want in the design and/or add-ons.
