I am surprised that you always use the fastest attack on a comp. I've typically tried to get the comp to react right after the transient. I guess you retain transients on the unaffected track and kill the transient on the parallel bus??

Confused on one thing. You wrote, "Usually I only record room mics." Were you talking about drums in general? Do you do any close micing on say, guitars and basses? Sorry if I missed understood you.
