I was working on adding that color functionality, got it working through midi sysex on the X-touch but gave up when i found out my 2 extenders don't have any support for xctl. There's no way to update firmware on the extenders and Behringer don't seem to have any plans to add this unfortunately..
Very happy with my setup nonetheless.
Next diy project will be seamless enclosure + DAW overlay. I reckon there's a lot of demand for these.
Can you please do a video showing this mod and/or possibly sharing how this was done. Maybe someone can help, or single unit users can greatly benefit from this.
Also why is Behringer not considering these updates if they are not that complicated. If individuals with minimal and limited resources and skills can do all these updates I am sure it would be nothing for Behringer to drop them in and wrap it up in a new firmware update.
What do you think?
Also I was thinking very simply that even if MCP does not allow for track color data to be transmitted (although Quetz just proved that it could be if he is correct in theory and you said you did it) why would they not simply add a way to change the colors from the units themselves?
That is a no brainer to me. Or create a simple piece of software that can connect to the X-Touch and the extenders and just add the colors manually. Maybe have about 10 or so colors to choose from, or however many could be available.
Does this make sense to you?
Somehow they would have to be connected to each session and recalled when that session is loaded though.
Lastly, why would the extenders not be update capable?
Do they not follow the state of the main units firmware?
Why can't they be connected to the main unit and upgraded that way or by using the same tool that the main unit uses to update?
I wish there was a big mod community for the X-Touch as much as the Mackie MCU controller has. Unfortunately its not for whatever reason.
Hopefully Behringer will chime in and comment on this.
