Everyone knows, that even a/b'ing an early mix with a later mix can fk with your head and throw an engineer into a tizzy of uncertainty and self-doubt... I'm not sure referencing 'boombox' emulation through headphones is going to help with the psychology of mixing.
Now someone who is experienced, has established some safeties to avoid these indian jones snake pits of audio mistakes - but someone who isn't aware of their own psychology when dealing with these comparisons could become very confused with the direction of their mix.. So my main contention here is that, this could do the opposite of helping.... for a lot of people... who just do not know what is happening to their perception when doing these comparisons.
