Truth be told, I didn't even know these "room in a set of cans" existed until I saw Slate drop the new product. I guess I've been living under a rock for a while in that regard. Haven't shopped much for plugs in a long while since I'm pretty happy with the Slate All Access deal and other plugs I already own.
I want to like VSX. I have high hopes for it. But I'm still a bit skeptical. Seems like I could get a good rough mix going with my monitors and then pop these on to start tuning things how they need to be. But I also don't wanna be drinking the kool-aid and find out later it doesn't quite work as advertised.
And I gotta admit that ARS3 price of $50 right now is pretty enticing.
Because I already happen to own it, and because I liked what I heard from it while using the HD-Linear. Truth be told though, the last thing I worked on earlier today, I didn't end up using it. I basically forgot all about it. I was too busy using the different references available in VSX.
Had I not had a chance to experience VSX for myself, I would probably have some reservations about this product too, mainly because I didn't find ARS3 to be absolutely perfect for translation.
In this world, it's important to be a bit skeptical, but this product continues to be the real deal for me. I did some more work with it earlier today, and things translated so well when I played them back on monitors that all I had to do next after that was bounce my work. I continue to be impressed with what I can do with this product.
