From a session I did recently. I tried M/S rooms as suggested by @ monkeyxx and I think it adds a real nice sense of controlled space to the capture. Seems particularly fitting for this modern jazz type style. So thx for that advice! Clips below are completely RAW with zero processing and zero EQ, including the sax, Rhodes and bass. Unfortunately, I didn't get any really detailed pics because I only had about an hour to place all the mics and setup the session from scratch. Needless to say I wasn't totally focused on getting photos of the mic positions. The second pic shows exactly how and where I had the M/S setup on my house kit before the drummer came in with his own kit. Same placement give or take a few inches.
