Pick 2 or 3 producer/engineers and listen to their stuff. Maybe only listen to CLA for a day or 2 casually and then listen to Butch Vig and then maybe Bob Rock.

You start to notice similarities through their productions like maybe one guy always has massive kicks while another guy has a certain quality in the treble that you start to notice. One guy has super wide guitars constantly while another has drier vocals from the rest. You start to hear techniques that they gravitate towards.

Everyone has a signature of some sort unless you really fight it. You’re always going to do your best to make something you like, and what you like is different from other people.
