Can’t really comment on which will suit your voice better, because I’m mostly only experienced recording myself. But I have owned an re20 and currently own a m88. As far as utility purposes, re20 has no proximity effect so if you move around a lot while you sing it could be a good choice. The m88, on the other hand, has a very pronounced proximity effect. But this can be cool, because you can beef up your voice just by moving in a little. I found the re20 to probably be a bit of a more neutral representation, but not as inspiring to sing into as the m88. I find the m88 has a lush, elegant sound for a dynamic. I don’t know how to explain it differently. The re20 is a bit more plain sounding. Both have a good extended frequency range. The re20 also had a litttle bump around 3khz or so that was unflattering on my voice. The m88 also has quite a large high end boost, but it’s broader.
