iD4 has just two I/Os, so it can be greatly simplified and you can basically live with blend knob between live input and DAW playback, you don't need more than that. It's similar like other 2x2 interfaces.
Whereas for example iD14 has two independent outputs (main and HP) and up to 10 inputs (incl. possible ADAT expansion), so you can't really control that with simple blend and some kind of mixer is very useful.

Thanks, I understand. Simple is really better for me, actually. I was looking at a Mackie PROFX8V2 8-Channel Compact Mixer with USB and Effects (Amazon.com: Mackie PROFX8V2 8-Channel Compact Mixer with USB and Effects: Musical Instruments) and it's loaded with bells and whistles for the same price as the Audient. But I need a good interface more than all the other things and strongly suspect that the Audient far surpasses the Mackie in interface quality. What do you folks think?
