Do most of you prefer this type of interface over the mixer-types with all the sliders and buttons? I'm assuming the Audient has better pre-amps and so on than those mixer-type interfaces that are in the same price range. It's not really about general preference for physical knobs or faders in UI.
You simply need more comprehensive mixer in case of audio interfaces with more physical I/Os, when you'd like to do some low latency mixes for monitoring outside of DAW (eg. not affected by working buffer size).
iD4 has just two I/Os, so it can be greatly simplified and you can basically live with blend knob between live input and DAW playback, you don't need more than that. It's similar like other 2x2 interfaces.
Whereas for example iD14 has two independent outputs (main and HP) and up to 10 inputs (incl. possible ADAT expansion), so you can't really control that with simple blend and some kind of mixer is very useful.
