Edit: I think the M88 has a humbucker coil - which might explain why you don't have the problem with it.
Ever stick them in a Leslie? I've had them hum in that scenario, and would guess this likewise is a case of interference pick-up. 58's are susceptible to this also IME. Mics I use instead which seem to perform much better in this respect are M88, 421, 441, RE20 (original version), M201, etc. YMMV. Good luck.
