I do agree it is incredibly great sounding and versatile.
However, take Waves Vitamin as an example, it's more flexible in the fact it is multiband and allows you to mess with mid-side enhancement as well, per band.
It's unique in the sense where it seems part eq, part compression, part harmonic saturation and it does actually sound really great.
I would use it to suppliment the sound I get from the other effects, but then saturation isn't everything either.
That said, I don't think it's an excuse to NOT get the Vertigo plugin. It's more along the notion that if I don't draw the line somewhere I would keep on spending my money on plugins until the cows come home.
So the question is do I draw the line there, or the next plugin. It certainly is very tasty and tempting to get.
Honestly, demo VSM 3 and try the presets. I've never found anything like it and have some good options. A cheap one is Reviver but not the same thing....
