Monitors that are flat and accurate but still enjoyable to listen to?
Id like to keep it around 1000$ a pair but I can splurge a bit it warrants the purchase. Maybe 1500$ or less a pair. These will mostly be used for processing clients vocals and making hip hop/electronic type music production.
I almost pulled the trigger on some yamaha hs8's but after much reading, while they seem to be great monitors for the price, people say they are quite clinical and cold. Any other recommenddations? I was looking at the Focal Alpha series, the neumann kh 120 and the newest released Dynaudio LYD 5 and 8's that just came out.
I see alot of good things about the JBL LSR series but when I heard them they sounded pretty HI FI to me.
I've also read up on the Genelec m030 and m040 and they seem to get great critic review but I also read alot of people saying they sound really HI FI. I essentially want to meet some kind of middle ground. I don't want them too HI FI and not too cold either. I have a good friend who has some yamaha hs8's and he has had a lot of trouble getting in the mood and being creative and I directly attribute that to the yamaha monitors. They are too clinical and cold sounding. It's hard for him to get a good vibe and have fun making music but instead turns into a "task" or a "chore" if you will.
