Indeed. I for one don't want something that only works with Steinberg/Yamaha products unless it is extremely cheap. (So that wouldn't be a full fledged controller). A Eucon controller is really the only thing currently that interests me.

The only way that would change is if Yamaha/Steinberg create a new open standard like they did with VST. I suspect they are rather careful of going down that route after their experience with Eucon and how Avid bought up Euphonix and locked the controller side of that market.
