Never compared the 2 directly to be honest, the EQV2 "softran" reminds me of a soft clipper, shaves the transients in a nice way, you can use it in conjunction with the input knob to add harmonics and tame dynamics at the same time.
Seems like a funny addition to the regular vintage EQ concept to me
