Got mine 1 week ago and had the chance to test it with a singer I am working with. He usually sings through a U67.
I knew that the mic must have a "sound" because Tom Jones used it for quite some years.

I was pretty amazed about how good this little mic sounds and so was the singer.
Eventhough it's an Omni, it has that intimacy that you are looking for. It is a bright mic as people say, but it's a very very pleasant bright.
The initial dry recording sounds already sort of finished. I usually have to add a little top and cut the bottom end when I record vocals. Not so here. It's already done ;-) ....

On top of everything, the mic looks really vintage cool and is very solid build.

To give you an impression, I added a few soundfiles of the MD211, the U67 and an SM7B which I used on the same singer.
I tried to get the levels as equal as I could.
All 3 recordings went through a Neve 1073 DPA into an LA2A (just riding the top a tiny bit) into an RME ADI 8 Pro with 44.1 + 16bit into Cubase, No EQ !!

The wet recordings have just a bit of UAD EMT250 reverb and a tiny bit of Delay.

You get an MD211 for around 100-150 on ebay. The U67 costs 50 times as much !!! .....
