I am going to be doing some solo classical piano recording in a resonant church and I'd love to get some advice about starting points for mic placements. The piano is a Grotrian-Steinweg Concert Grand and it's a small stone church with a high ceiling and wooden floors (see photo).
The piano is very warm but powerful and the space is very resonant, almost too much so. I want a detailed sound but also to retain the richness of the space.
Here is the equipment that I have available:
Pair of Samar Audio Ribbons
Pair of Earthworks QTC40 omnis
Pair of Line Audio Omnis
Pair of MBHO/Haun Cardioids
Grace 802 Preamp (8 channels)
Thanks everyone for your input!
