Ribbon mic for drum overhead?

The heritage AXBT in this role - mid-'40s.


There was probably another one just to the right covering the rest of the band; possibly one on the rest of the rhythm section; I would have also expected to see one for the vocalist/compere/audience reaction. Probably all fed into a 4-channel OBA-8.

The OBA-8 was designed in 1938 and still in use when I joined the BBC World Service in 1965!
It was a passive device and worked at mic level, fading up another source ,reduced the original...
An early ducking device.
The AXBT was a wonderful mic,though a trifle bulky by todays Schoepes standards
