rufus wainwright at carnegie hall with 40 piece orchestra - amazing
although judy garland would never make my short list,
rufus' recreation of her 1961 carnegie hall show last night
was nothing short of stunning.......
hearing a 40 piece orchestra play great in great
accoustics was an experience unto itself
(phil ramone recorded the proceedings)
he is one of the greatest singers on the planet.....
a consumate musician.....
peerless among american singer-songwriters
if you are in nyc and can throw down
$300 to a scalper, see the show tonight...
Probably one of the most underated artists today. Poses is an incredible project, yet got next to no airplay. Got issues with music and non-subscriber radio these days - but I think I just shifted off the vibe of the Good News threadheh
he is a career artist.....he is the only current great male singer
other than the dearly missed jeff buckley..........
his talent will defy and outlast any clear channel
strategist.....
sad for the people who are under
the impression that what the media defines
as "good" or "great" 95% of the time is "product"
i love music.......my vibe can leave the "good news channel"
real fast in today's times
The concert was amazing (i was amazed at how many songs i knew that Judy woulda sang as well--not into her all that much but him yeah). Went on a charity fund raiser and the afterparty was great as well. Rufus didn't stay a long time, but beautiful apt overlooking central park and met some very nice people too (and yeah they were pretty hot so that helped)
