Just introducing myself

Hey all! I spend most of my time in the studio but love to get out and record live. Thought I'd share pix of my low end rig with you. I like to put all mic pres on stage (neve api 10 racked neotek racked modules etc.) and transformer split to FOH and mon world. Kind of tricky getting trimmed up but well worth it. Then down the snake to my 1984 VW vanagan/w d8b and 3 da98/38s, event 20/20s, video mon, laptop/w spectrafoo and the essential lava lamp. Tends to attract alot of inquisitive looks at the venues! After I gave up the road life mixing FOH, this gets me out just enough to keep it "real".
Congrats to all in the mix article!!! Dave Bjornson

Very cool. Thanks for droping by. We hope you say around for a while.

Any pictures of the inside of your vehicle or your mic pre/splitter rack?

When we have the pre's on stage, our stage tech handles the levels back to the CRM. When it's a small gig and/or the techs are busy setting up other stuff, I usually stay on stage for a quick level check and adjust while the band's warming up before the soundcheck. Then I get back to the CRM to do the full soundcheck. Normally by then, a tech is free to baby sit the mic pres for me. If I need a tweak, I just call him on the PL.

Ahhh, remote pre's... A rack of 56 Neve 88Rs would be real nice touch one day.

One more for the road! The last gig I did with this rig the power went out in the club. Lucky for me my 8 x 750 watt UPS units kept me up and rolling for the brief "acoustic set" the band performed while I watched (in horror) as the bar owner blasted the 400 amp three phase panel with CO2 to cool the breakers!!!!! Ya just can't make this stuff up! (It seemed obvious that this was standard practice)
Sure glad i remembered to disable the warning tone on the ups units that were offleft for the mic pres!!!rollz
