Plenty of ‘location recordings’ to be featured in this upcoming (Dec 1st) time-capsule documentary from 5 decades ago…LSO at Barking Town Hall, his California ranch barn….probably more. I’m pretty sure it was a Dutch film crew, judging from the segments leaked to YouTube over the years ….?

Neil Young: either you love him or ...
I'm in the former category. Neil and Joni - two of Canada's greatest 20th century gifts to the world. And Oscar for jazz.

The following earlier ‘Remote Possibilities’ GS thread discusses and refers to those old Harvest sessions, including for ‘A Man Needs a Maid’ with the LSO at Barking Town Hall with Young, Jack Nitzsche and Glyn Johns…but the YouTube links there all seem to have been wiped out (maybe they work for you ?)

[that said, i am grateful to him for giving csn a massive push and, only to a slightly lesser degree, for inviting me to a helicopter flight over the swiss alps during a festival in the 90's, even if it was just to have someone to talk to (or more precisely: to yell at, with all the noise in the alouette II) as heather nova, who was also on board, was too shocked by the adventurous flying skills of the air force pilot to even speak a word (while neil was clearly the most experienced passenger and seemed to be enjoying it)!]
saw neil young's 'harvest time' last night. the scenes of the stray gators recording in "the barn" are fan-tastic!
and lots of vintage gear shots throughout (I'd love to know what the mics were for the 'heart of gold' scene near the end of the film; looks vaguely like a B&K 4006 with an APE, which, of course, it could not have been).
highly recommended if you are in any way interested in nail young.

And let’s not forget that he’s still recording in a (different) barn today, with swanky well-appointed remote-truck parked outside….though apparently no talkback or cctv between the two.
