This is starting to sound a bit like Stefan Kiessling's double MMS array, which he posted about back in the summer: Flexible stereo setup (not only) for organ recording
The two mid mics on each side, of course, give you more flexibility still.

Weird. Both of those microphones are designed so the body doesn't block much and it's hard to get closer than with an MKH30 in that mount. And both of those microphones are very consistent.
That's interesting.
