With the double AB method, is it mandatory to use omnis for the wider pair...or would wide-cardioids be able to bring similar cohesion with the centre 12" pair ?

Maybe mdonahue will weigh in - I've only ever used omnis, sometimes with APEs on the middle pair.

In previous posts he's been fairly adamant that all four should be the same model of omni; and that they should NOT be pointed down, for some reason.

Thanks a lot for help. The room was actually a lot drier than I remembered. Not quite sure what to do, but have to add reverb. Ended up with Faulkner spaced array, two Neumann 183 67 cm and two 143 41cm. 143 6db more than 184 in mix.

I have access to Bricasti at the conservatory I work, but have never used it. The reverb I have sounds artificial, the consonants sound strange and the sound gets a bit "cold".

And remember: This is a local amateur choir with old singers:-)

For classical music, and esp choir, most reverbs need to be pretty heavily lo-passed to sound natural (the signal fed to the verb, not the 'wet' signal).
