Sennheiser 8030 coming next month!
Today, I spoke to an engineer at Sennheiser, and he confirmed that they will release a very compact successor to the MKH30. More details will be given tomorrow.

I am very excited about this... You too?

I've had an email from Sennheiser confirming this as well - no details on price yet but expected to be shipping around 01/04/2022?

I don’t believe it... It’s been too long!

I was reading the microphones article in the recent Sound On Sound mag and it reminded me that mics are, fundamentally either just omnis or fig.8 mics with any other patter being some manipulation of the other two.

So why do we see so few fig.8 mics other than those using dual capsule designs? Seems illogical...

At the rate Sennheiser are going, they'll discontinue the MKH30 before the year is out....

Sennheiser MKH Series Discontinuation

Be careful what you wish for Lucas, this might be close enough to fool you....in a room with low light ...

I don't think I would mistake b9audio mics for Senn MKH. They look very strongly like Schoeps designs, even down to the Nextel-ish finish.

Good April Fool's joke, BTW.
