Should you like, here is something very new and special from today ... rather monumental ... all recorded with Schoeps MK2 and Forssell SMP-2. The flute was recorded with Josephson C700S.

The sound you get is just perfect for this style of music. Thanks for posting. The video is fabulous too.

Thank you ... There is nothing like Schoeps for string instruments or handpan. But for flutes, Josephson MS sounds just much better - more real and focused ...

Yes, those are great combos. But the tools are only as good as the person using them. So bravo!

What Shosty said ^ ^ ^ ^ , indeed. The downside to such excellent mics and technique is that any shortcoming on the performance side is magnified by the clarity. You need not worry abut that, Ivo. Well Done!

Yes, a part of this might be the difference between spaced AB vs "coincident" capsules.

Should you be interested - a new monumental video was born, with the usual setup: Schoeps MK2 (RH mode) , Forssell SMP-2, Forssell MADA-2):

In the latest video you can hear handpan in combination with flute: here Schoeps MK2 were used for everything (together with Forssell SMP-2 and MADA-2)

The Frequency response of the stereo RS-2 is:

Mic: 30Hz – 16kHz (+/- 3dB)

The ARM-1L would be the same as it uses the same 2" ribbon.

I'm waiting for more info on the new mics - but they are with Sound On Sound at the moment for review.

A studio who borrowed the stereo RS-2 recently said:-
β€œIt’s amazing on grand piano, the depth in the sounds is incredible.
Distant room mic. on drums is incredible too, the low end is huge.
Very impressed!
I didn’t think a microphone could be worth that kind of money but I stand corrected.”
Have you tested these mics now, John? Any news you can share about them?
