Advice on vocal chain/effects for achieving this specific vocal sound?

Hey dudes. I can operate Pro Tools and I've run vox recording sessions before, but I'm inexperienced when it comes to choosing vocal chains. I'm working on a remix and I'm recording a male pop/R&B singer. I want his vocal sound to complement the existing vocal as much as possible--I'm going to be harmonizing the parts. So--any advice on a vocal chain?

Here's the original vocal:

EDIT: This is the singer I'm working with:

Here's what I have access to:

Mics:
Michael Joly U 87
Michael Joly U 47
Old World Audio TB1
Neumann KMS 105
Sennheiser MKH 8040
Sennheiser MKH 416t
BeezNeez Lulu FET
Josephson C 42
Mark Fouxman Schoeps Clone
Michael Joly Oktava ML-52-02 (ribbon)
Beyerdynamic M160 (ribbon)

Probably not, but POSSIBLY have access to:

Telefunken ELAM 251
Telefunken AR 51
Telefunken M 260
Neumann U 67

Pres
API 312 (clone)
Neve 1073 (BAE clone)
Pacifica
Shadow Hills Mono Gama
Millennia HV3D
Akai Tube Mic Pre
GA 73
LA 610

Outboard (wary of using unless I can't recreate with plugins since I'm inexperienced)
G1176LN
GSSL
DBX 160xt

well if you can the 251/67 are pretty safe picks but I dont know the singer so its hard to tell you exactly what will work. All the pre's are pretty good, I like the 1073 (like most) and the pacifica is pretty great as well

try using a different mic/pre combo for the backs. can add some interesting textures

have fun

Thanks Gee!

I'm not recording any background vox, just one melody line. I'm inclined to go with the 87 if none of those lower mics are available, but I don't know if it's the best choice for this application. I'm definitely interested in as many informed opinions as I can get.

the 87 or the 47 are probably your best bets if the 251 or 67 arent available, I did check out the videos you posted but I'd still have to hear it in context with the mic to make a decision.

my first chain from the list you gave me would probably 87/1073/1176 see how that sounds and go from there
