Vocal FX pedals in hip-hop for use in your studio?

I was looking at some of the vocal effects pedals online. I know that mixing and FX are usually done in the box but I was wondering if anyone uses any of these FX pedals in their vocal chain for their recordings in the studio? If so, what are some good hardware for getting a cool hip-hop sound? Not talking about a pre-amp (ex: 1073, 737, 610). If you feel like you get better results from using plugins, please mention which plugins you use, thanks gents.. #knowledgeispower

I'm always in search of a new or unique sound.. Do think a hardware like this would be obsolete to the DAW or plugins? Which ones do you use? I feel this is a valid question. If you do use a hardware fx on your vocals, which one do you prefer?

Pedals are more for live applications to my knowledge. I wouldn't use them on vocals because I always like to have a crisp original take of everything. Convenient to have when adding fx, for layering purposes and such. Can't see a real advantage to it, or think of an effect pedal you couldn't recreate ITB.

Back when I used to travel from studio to studio and mix on different boards I used to have a suitcase with different guitar pedals. I used them a lot for fx (distortion, phasers and things like that). Since then plugins have come a long way and I don't see the need for them as much (still have the suitcase though).

I will say that there are some pretty great pedals out there and if your willing to put out a little effort you can achieve some cool/unique things.
