What's the best SATURATION plug-in currently?
There was a lot of topics about saturation , but we have more and more tools every single day , so what's your fav Saturation plug at the moment? What you use on individual tracks , groups and 2 bass?

For tape saturation my fav of the moment is the new roundtone

Roundtone VST - Tape emulation

For tube type saturation the sat algo in Voxengo's Voxformer is the one i like and use the most

There's lots out there.

For tape I use the Mcdsp AC1

For tube I use SPL

crane song has a nice one, but thats tdm only.

Lately I've been using an aux that has the massey tape head feeding a sonnox inflator. eq to taste after, and blend with original.

I just demoing decapitator , and i must say it's pretty damn good!!But on 2 Buss it's making too much distortion;/ and smash snare.(whats your fav style?).

And what about others: PSP MixSaturator and VW2, URS Saturation , SPL TwinTube, Izotope Alloy?

For Decapitator on the 2 buss you can try the "E" style with no drive / eq'd & blended to taste with the mix control.

Another really great option is the FREE! Channel 2 (& Density2) from Chris at Airwindows. Sounds awesome and can go from pretty clean to nasty (with varying models as well). His tape emulations are also dope.

I've got to say that Bootsie really has done some very impressive saturation stuff that he has woven into a few plugins. My only gripe is that sometimes the way he does his gain structuring is a little annoying. But the stuff does sound GOOD and it's free (crazzzzy).

Yeah, it's impressive.

Depends on your budget and taste but a few good ones to demo are:

PSP MixPack an analog sound plug-ins (VST, AudioUnit, DirectX, RTAS, AudioUnit) for mixing and mastering!

The last one is more full on, more of a distort tbh.

+1 for Bootsie! This is proprietary but I really like Kontakt's saturation, you can switch between tube and solid state. It really gives kicks nice bottom end tone when driving it!

Sound Toys Decapitator is the best I've heard based on algorithms... Much more cpu intensive but best result for saturations from subtile to rather strong with an incredible analog texture: some programs for nebula. That said I never heard a p^lugin produce the sound you get from a device like a chandler TG2 extremely overloaded (sounds very creamy).

Decapitor here , use it as a send , not insert as you have the dry wet thing ....
the otha killer is the focusing eq from softube that is just crazy and way underated....

Why do you use it as a send when you have a wet/dry knob on the plug in? Unless I'm missing something obvious here.....

Hmm, if it's pure (and subtle) saturation/warmth for every use it has to be between.

112db redline preamp and decapapatitator (:P)

Don't see many people suggesting redline, there's a demo availble, it just gives you a lovely smeary warmth.

UAD maximizer, V-tape, camelcrusher, conspiracy theory saturator voxengo tube amp, whatever works at the time really and I never dismiss stock cubase plugs.
