What's Your Expert Opinion....

I plan on using the following to make beats and record mainly hip-hop vocals, please give your opinion other gear that might be necessary, Thanks for your time:

Imac G5
Logic Pro 9
Komplete 5
2-Yamaha HS80
Blue Bluebird
Apogee Duet
MPD 24

Is a preamp a necessary or I'm I good with the Duet?
I'm also thinking of getting a MPK 61 to replace the Mpd, is there another controller comparable in that price range or maybe cheaper?

Once again Thanks for your time and advice...

You MUST have the Hip Hop versions of all the above.

Pair of good headphones

Couple of bass traps and/or sound absorbing/diffusing foam

Bigger pads than those MPK pads

Forget to put my headphones:
Audio Technica Studio Headphones

The pads are bigger on the MpD or MPK?

MPD pads are 1.25" x 1.25".

MPK are defo smaller. But do your research on the MPD or MPK, make sure you know what it does man.

Yeah, I went to Guitar Center to check out the Mpk again and I don't care for pads. I'll probably keep the MpD. Any suggestions on other Keyboard controllers with or without pads.

I recommend using the Euphonix Boards. Either the MC Control or MC Mix or both.

Agreed. Don't get any "rock" versions otherwise you'll never be a true hip hop prah-duce-ahh.

EVERYONE has an opinion on these boards. My opinion is work with whatever you get. And if you can't get it to work how you want it to, keep working at it until you do.
