"I can transform ya" - Robot voice??

Hello all, first post here.
A little question: If you had to re-make that nice robot voice in the intro (that is also the hook of teh track) of chris brownΒ΄s "I Can Transform Ya", how would you do it??

Hire a session robot.

Or use a vocoder or text-to-speech device.

A session robot is out of question, I think (no money...)

About the vocoder, seems to be the most obvious, but I dont believe they used a vocoder... any other ideas?

Whenever you post a song, you should always link it. I googled it though.

YouTube - Chris Brown - I Can Transform Ya

Sounds like it can be done by vocoding an industrial drone sound fx or something.

Try this:

1. Record a vocal, in normal monotone intonation, saying whatever you want to sound robotic.

2. Time stretch it to a fairly high multiple, keeping the pitch constant (you'll have experiment with this). Re-record that result into a new sample. That will create the metallic, weird artifacts. It's important that you export this to a new sample slot, because you need to unstretch the time in step 3, and if you just turn the timestrech setting back to where it was at the start, you'll lose all of your artifacts.

3. Then time stretch that back into the desired length. Play around with the pitch. Maybe apply harsh metallic reverb.

That's if you don't want to use a vocoder or some speech-to-text program. My preferred option is still the session robot, they don't accept cash ime, you'll need to take a trip to the gas station. heh

Morphoder is cool, I tryed it... but what is cool about all this experimentation is that you discover other sounds, different from what you were looking for, and sometimes fitting better for your needs.

If it's not the ''Waves Morphoder'' it very well may be the New TC Helicon Voice Synth: usually Producers like to use the newest gear.
You can get this for around $299.00 or slightly lower. Also can be used live as well.

Peace & blessings.

The 2 voices in the intro and in the chorus are both sounds in any Roland Fantom X. He didn't do anything else to them, they come standard like that

Doesn't sound like a vocoder at all to me. More like a feedback loop.
Sounds awful btw. Just experiment with your gear, delay/flanger, even ring modulation. This is not a vocoder.

The robot voice(s) is a couple of different samples from the Roland Fantom X.

You can also hear one of the samples in the beginning of "Kelly Rowland - Like This" (produced by Polow Da Don):
YouTube - Kelly Rowland - Like this

Swizz Beatz is kind of infamous for using the most unusable samples and make them work really good....

Hope that could cure the curiosity

EDIT: I kind of now understood that you want to remake the samples - Anyway, hope this is better than nothing

Tape Delay

I'm on Logic and I think it's as simple as sticking the Tape Delay plug on and setting delay time as low as 59 ms then feedback to 47% or so, also maybe ad a time delay plug and offset the left or right to widen it.

Its a sample from a Drum Kit in the Fantom X6. Swizz beats literally just used 2 keys for that sound..
