selling beats (2 questions)

hello,
let's say you came up with some killer beats and want to sell them to a rap artist.

how do you get in contact with the prospective buyer/rapper?

and, how you do shop your beat without someone simply stealing it from you (for example you send out demo cd's of the beats and then people simply use them or chop them up for their own productions)?

1. Go to open mic/ local hip hop nights, send demo's to labels and get a manager.
2. I just put a 1:30 mp3 of my beats, if anyone wants to jack my mp3 and loop it up thats on them and there aint much money to be made without a tracked out version. You could put name drops, scratches, or shout like dj clue throughout the track to make it unjackable. The problem with that is if an mc is trying to get a feeling to spit on the beat that **** gets obnoxious or unbearable
