Using two computers?

Does anyone use two different computers for their production?

I do not, but I just wanted to see if anyone else did.

I have a desktop and and laptop, and I was just wondering if there is a way to somehow use both computers that could somehow help with music production.

I am not that great tech-wise, but is there a way to work with both computer at the same time? Combining the two somehow?

I have an old G5 with PT LE. I will typically load up a bunch of reverbs in it. Then from my PT HD CPU, an 8 core, I will feed the G5 with audio and save CPU power on my main CPU.

The G5 serves me an external Reverb Machine. I control it via Screen Sharing in OS X. or With remote desktop. Very very easy and fast under OS X.

check out a program called FX Teleport. it works over a LAN connection and lets you run plug-ins off a slave computer to save processing power on your master.

In my studio, I've got 3 Macs running PT HD, Logic, etc... in addition to my MacBook as well. Never enough computers! heheheheh

Regarding your question:

Yes, using Node mode you can use both computers' CPU in Logic

Yes, using MOL or ipMIDI, you can link them together for MIDI/audio...

Anyone tried Plasq Wormhole2 as a free open source alternative?

I run an Open Labs Miko (essentialy just a computer) through some outboard processers and into my desktop computer. I use to go out the computer and back into it, but had latency issues. Not this way. It's a good way to warm up and phatten virtual instruments too.

I slave my Protools LE rig to my Nuendo rig when dumping audio that I will take to another studio. Otherwise, my Protools rig rarely gets booted up.

I'm gonna look into that, I just wish you could use it with RTAS plugins!
