MPC type plugin

I thought sonars 8 beatscape was going to be the answer to my prayer but it sucks. You can only use the wack loops it has.You cant use mp3 or wavs to load on the pads. Does anyone know of any plugins that Can act as a MPC?

Battery 3 will not act like an MPC but it's probably what you're looking for in the VSTi realm.

Oh, and please don't ever use MP3 drums tutt

LOL Im prolly wouldnt ever use Mp3 anything unless I had no choice.

Buit I am really looking to record a hook and MPC it up.I mess around with battery and it is cool but I cant figure out how to get the sample to stop playing all the way thru whe I hit the pad.

Check out the new NI Maschine! I watched a demo at the NAMM show and it seems to be a good combination of software & hardware (for $600,- at Sweetwater). Works as a plugin and standalone and the workflow seemed to be pretty cool.

We all thought that Beatscape was going to be Cake's version of Guru. But it was not.

If you are looking for mpc style Vsti that's where you need to look.

FXpansion - Guru

The new Motu BPM seems to have taken the concept a bit further

I know its disapointing as hell.Damn that MOTU looks redic but I need to tame my gear addiction.I will probably just use fruity rewired into sonar but I have issue with FL in PT so thats why Im looking for a plugin.Guess Ill just have to make battery work but Im spoiled with the FL Slice x and Fruity Slicer.Nothing comes close.P

An ADSR envelope will only shape the sound not alter it's playback settings ... I dont use Battery but I know there's a tab with a setting that's similar to the MPC's "Note On" setting. Sample setup... it's in there... Ive seen it. Someone else can help Im sure ...

It's actually prety easy to do.

Make sure your envelope is ON

Put the S (sustain) to maximum and then put the R (release) very short, like 3 ms. As soon as you relese the triger ( key or pad ) the sample should stop playback. Ajust to taste to obtain a natural release and ET Voilà

Hope it helps

Theres also a button on battery tha allows you to do exactly what your looking for...unfortunately(despite using it often) i cant remember the name of that button. I'll try to post a proper explanation of how to do it tonight.

Yeah, the NI Maschine is the closest at this point...as long as it does what NI says it will.

Looks like all their stuff is Mac only. Sonar usually = PC.

That app does look interesting though. Hope they port it over someday.

Battery can do it. You just have to be in the right "sampler mode". I can't think of it off hand because I'm not in front of it at the moment.

I would use one instance of battery and simply have certain cells and their ranges respond to certain midi channels.

If I needed something spread out, I'd make that cell spread high and low and make that cell only respond to a certain midi number so it wouldn't effect other cells that might utilize the same keys.

Guru will do this as well. Has for the GUI(make it look like a mpc as well) you can also do this with Guru too. Unfortunately I don't know how to upload you some pictures of it that way, but it will do it. I actually have mine set up(GUI) with a street theme.

I also have a MPC 2000Xl that I use just to control Guru.
It responds like a champ!!
