Hi Geoff. I've always loved the sound of Paul's bass on Mrs. Vanderbilt and tried to emulate it many times and would love to hear anything you remember about recording/mixing it? E.g.: direct or mic'd amp? (And if so which amp?) I'm guessing he played his Ricky?
A separate question -- wondering if you do much work ITB these days. Specifically wondering about the some of the plugins you like. Do you use any of the varioius Abbey Road plugins and what do you think? Have you found any plugin compressor that is close the RS124?
Thanks for all the great records which I've enjoyed for much of my life!
Hi There, I can only guess about the bass on Mrs. Vanderbilt as it was such a long time ago, but I think it sounds like the Hofner as it seems to have a woody sound and it would have to be a mike probably a dynamic. in answer to your other question I don't ever work ITB and never use plugins. I have no opinion on the Abbey Road Plugins. Geoff
