How about 4000 books, running the gamut from science fiction and contemporary thrillers to 19th centurey etiquette manuals?

Plus a bunch of non-fiction, mostly science and history.

FWIW, I won't do more than a day session or two in a studio that doesn't have a pool table on the premesis or in a bar that's under a 4 minute walk from the studio that has a good pool table.

I generally prefer to book either "residential" facilities with a good selection of movies, satellite TV, and other various distractions [pool table mandatory!! They're an excellent distraction, far better than video games for some reason I'll never understand]... or a nudie bar within walking distance.

I've never felt that making records was a spectator sport... so unless the "talent" is working, I want them out of the room, but in the immediate neighborhood... and entertained in any way that pleases them besides sitting in the back of my room and kibitizing.

Playstation 2 if I'm in a good mood and feel like sharing it. Otherwise it's an N64 and Sega Genesis, lots of old Guitar Player mags going back about 10 years and cable TV. I'd love to get an air hockey setup but I just don't have the room for it. I also pick up random mags once or twice a month. GQ, Mens Health, video games, PC, Complex (big hit but too expensive to subscribe), Cosmo (lots of guys read it), anything but music and recording mags really. I don't need to put any ideas into my clients heads.

The liquor and martial arts wepons sounds like a bad combination to me. Unless you have a locked and padded room.

littledog's main distractions/attractions for the clients:

β€’ 6 pound yorkshire terrier
β€’ super-voluptuous girlfriend
β€’ exercise room
β€’ extensive snackbar

but the one that consistently captures the most attention:

β€’ huge vintage vinyl jazz collection ranging from the 1920's to the late 1970's.

MW, you are truly the ****!

Now if you had a "Vanguard" game....I'd lockout a week or so just to play the damn thing.

Me, I have Maxim, Business Week, and a **** load of computers - 286's thru P4, Mac SE thru iMac, all with "original" software.

Foosball
Pool Table

all of the old video game systems IE: sega master system, sega genisis, atari, original nintendo, and nintendo 64

and the infamous Bop-It!!!!!

if you don't know this game/toy, be glad that you don't.
it's loud, and people get loud while playing it, it's even made it onto a few recordings!!! some on purpose, some because band members too often can't keep the f*ck out of the room while tracking.

What else have you guys accidentally recorded, but left on an album/song??? maybe i should make that a new post!?

Yeah I had a beautiful showroom condition 1989 Honda Hawk (aka 650NTV aka Revere) with only 2500 miles on it. It was a sweet V-twin. I had it for a few years as I grew my confidence to keep moving up to bigger bikes. I sold it to my welder buddy who also had one (that's how we became buddies) and he still has it. Damn cool bike for sure.

Okay, besides the pool table and hot tub with a view of 4 ski resorts, the most popular "toy" at Great Divide Studios is the new sharper image massage chair. I'm currently learning to mix in this chair. Also the airport titanium powerbook...but, no wireless porn in my massage chair, please!

For the last 2 years in a row our phone number was accidently printed in the phone book under escort services "absolutely gorgeous". We sometimes let our clients answer the phone when caller ID announces some local hotel #. Now this gets really fun!

Bob . . are you saying that a major rock and roll record producer that has sold many records can actually afford some of the finer things in life (I had no idea!!) . . . . AND remain the nice guy that he is?

While mixing a live project I did as an Aritist and Co-producer, I used a studio that had a stand-up "Missle Command". Blowin' stuff up really calms the nerves.

In the lounge:
Uright Piano, Comfy sofa, chairs + table, tons of gear porn magazines, TV + VCR, coffee machine etc. (We've also got accomodation for 6 people)

Ground floor (studio is upstairs):
Pool Table, more comfy furniture, broadband-connected PC + iMac

Outside:
3 full sized soccer fields, 1 baseball training field, 1 rugby field, 1 american football training field, skating rink, indoor tennis + badminton courts, 18 hole golf course + driving range + a great restaurant + a nice hotel, farmhouse with horses & cows.

5 minutes by car will take you to:
Center of town (plenty of restaurants, clubs, library, shops & Gyms and so on)

10 minutes by car will take you to:
The beach

I'll give you free time in the studio if you dive into the water in december (if you allow me to post the pictures here). In january to early march you could go winter-fishing on the ice, it is a great way to spend a sunny winter day!

Last summer was REALLY hot here, almost tropical. (hard to believe? It is the truth.)
