We have released our second product, a MIDI effect for Ableton Live that brings the complex multi-channel MIDI harmony & melody editing capabilities of Liquid Notes directly into Ableton Live. Based on a powerful harmonic analysis of your MIDI clips, it offers a controllable range of alternatives for chords and harmonies in single-track or multi-track MIDI arrangements and makes the theory of harmony fully accessible to you.



While we have kept the familiar user interface of the standalone version of Liquid Notes (with its vertical sliders and rotary knobs), the entire interface for communication with the DAW had to be exchanged and adapted in order to support our multi-channel MIDI application. Reshaping of MIDI clips in Ableton Live?
Liquid Notes for Live makes that possible. Edit your MIDI clips by making adjustments to the vertical sliders (chord function) and rotary knobs (chords, tension) in Liquid Notes for Live while playing your song in Live. The changes become audible immediately, it's like playing live and having an expert composer next to you making all those complex harmonic changes for you.

In a matter of minutes only you can finally create the sound you have always been looking for! Record it back to Live, or export it as a separate sequence.

Playing live in Live with Liquid Notes for Live?
Select the target scale in Liquid Notes for Live, hit 'Play' (or, 'Record' in the DAW) and start improvising to your song with Liquid Notes putting the notes exactly where you wanted them to be.

Technical requirements
Liquid Notes for Live uses the Max for Live standard in Ableton Live 9 to run as a MIDI effect, and requires Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0.25 or higher to be installed.

So nice to se the concept being integrated with Live and developed further!

IMO anyone who needs a software that could enhance your harmonic vocabulary this is the piece of SW that will blow your mind.

I think this tool has so much to offer for musicians/composers/producers at any skill level (harmonically and technically speaking).

Live users should consider adding this tool to his arsenal for even more reasons than easy integration.
This piece of coding combined with Live 9's inherent sound to midi functions will make remixing musical themes from all periods of time a really fun experiment.

While we certainly hope that Liquid Notes for Live can help many to reconstruct their music quickly in Ableton Live, we believe there's a fair bit of work left to make changes over the next weeks that even further better the workflow of it. To that end, some customers have left us great feedback already that helps us steer this tool in the right direction.

Export your arrangement directly onto Live

We have included the drag & drop function for a one-click export of your arrangement onto Live, which now also retains the original order of clips during export (and import to our software).



The update completes a set of features that will enable seamless transition of files between the two applications, being a major improvement for the workflow. Read more about it here.

Here's what's inside the update:

• Drag & drop button for one-click file export to Live enables you to export your entire arrangement with the click of one button only.

• Original order of clips is retained when exporting your arrangement from Liquid Notes to Ableton Live.

• Global bypass setting added to LN_global Max device for simple disabling of Liquid Notes for Live's Max devices. This removes the need to run the Liquid Notes for Live application whenever one of its Max devices is assigned to a track.

• Empty track with a Liquid Notes for Live' Max device assigned to it is now being imported into Liquid Notes for Live when clicking on "Get clips". This enables you to use this empty track to record your input from the LN Live mode when jamming to a melody in Liquid Notes for Live.

The update is free of charge for users of our software and can be downloaded from this page. No need to uninstall any previous version of Liquid Notes for Live, simply run the installer and launch the software after the installation process is complete.

Over the next months we'll work on introducing more features that gradually add more capabilities in terms of MIDI editing and learning to Liquid Notes.

We have released a new version of Liquid Notes for Live that is compatible with Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10):




In the latest version of the popular operating system for Mac, Apple made some significant changes on a system level in OS X Yosemite, requiring application developers to update their software. For example, the license manager of Liquid Notes for Live needed to be replaced with a version that is compatible with OS X Yosemite.

The updated version of Liquid Notes for Live is now available for download on our website, and is fully backwards compatible with older versions of Mac OS X.

It's been some months in the making, but today we are happy to announce that Liquid Notes for Live is now compatible with Java 8 on Windows.

You can download the software directly from our website:

Version 1.1.0.4 of Liquid Notes for Live is also backwards compatible with Java 6 and 7, so Windows XP users can keep on using the software.

The update is free of charge, and is available as of now.

P.S.: We keep on working hard to achieve compatibility with Java 8 on Mac, too. There we are awaiting a fix by Oracle in Java 8 before being able to release a version for Mac users. Read more here.
