Behringer U-PHORIA UMC1820 Audio Interface

I did a search on the forums but found nothing...

Behringer: U-PHORIA UMC1820

Seems pretty awesome for the options and at a price of 200$.

Hope they get the drivers to work fine.

Looks awesome. I can't believe that box is priced at $200. I was in total disbelief over the price until I saw this article from SonicState confirming both the price as well as a smaller unit for $149.99

If it sounds any good it's my next interface, I want to add some outboard stuff and this seems like endless I/O for stuff like that!

WTF?!?! $200?

Does anyone know if it's CoreAudio compliant or will it need a driver for Mac?

I think Behringer's stuff is "class compliant", so no drivers required.

Anybody knows why this is half the price of the ada8200? Could I use this instead of a ada8200 with the same results? I think they are the same Midas pres... Thanks!

This is so cheap that people will doubt their ears and complain about the sound even if it *does* sound good.

I will, yes, complain and compare to others
audio interfaces if it doesn't sound minimally good. I dont have any fear that this audio interface can sound good, even if it be a cheap gear like the AD8000. (sorry my english...).

They are so cheap people don't even bother to report failure, request service, ship units, blah blah. They just buy a new one.

With agressive prices like this..... WELL HELL. I'm going to build a Behringer only studio. From mic/interface to headphones and loudspeakers and all. Just for the fun and make a record. See if somebody can "hear" the diff!?

Just found this video demoing one of the current U-Phoria models. Sound demo starts at 5:40. Sounds fine to me.

Same here, compared to my Aurora 16...

Do you think we can plug 2 of these together?

I read that they require no drivers. I suppose if nothing else, it can be done at the operating system level. On OSX there is the aggregate device option, I'm not sure if there is something similar on the Windows side.

It would be awesome if at least the 1820 could be used standalone. Then I can use it for some cheap IO now and get a nicer interface with ADAT later. Hopefully somebody from Behringer can chime in and say whether it can do standalone mode.

I stand corrected. According to the UMC1820 product page (under downloads), it says Windows requires drivers. OSX however does not require drivers which means it is class compliant. Class compliant USB devices generally also work OOTB on Android, iOS and Linux/BSD. This will be interesting to test out with BitWig on a Linux box when they're both released.

I still remember this classic thread...it's worth starting from the beginning assuming you don't know which model was compared with which file.
