Vacuum Pro Polyphonic Tube Synth

Polyphonic analog tube synthesizer. Developed by AIR as part of the Pro Tools Creative Collection from Avid.

The new Vacuum Pro is polyphonic, offers up to 160 oscillators.

The Vacuum part of the name Vacuum Pro relates to the six tube circuits that lend a particularly ‘analog’ flavor to each of the main synthesis modules—oscillators, filters, mixer, etc. Modulation effects, delay, and a classic arpeggiator add motion and depth to the sound.

Vacuum Pro Polyphonic Analog Tube Synthesizer is for 32- or 64- bit Mac or Windows systems, AAX, VST, AU, and RTAS formats.

honestly, we do not even say "modelled" anymore....now a software is not just "analog" but is referred to as having "6 tube circuits" in it.

Yeah that kinda ticks me off too.
You really have to read very carefully these days to find out whether something is hardware or software.

There should be strict rules about this kind of advertising. It is misleading.

No.

They are new instruments from AIR.

And AIR is no more owned by AVID.

Advertising is always misleading.

I love the few companies that don't do any advertising at all and just produce quality and not spending a damn on fancy words.

yes quite. Soon people coming into music will assume tubes are software.

at least it has 160 oscillators - that kind of makes up for it?

Well, here's a real tube Synthesizer:

https://www.facebook.com/Knifonium

no 160 oscillators, that's true, but actual tubes, and a solid idea of how to actually implement thermionic devices in a synth...
and a work of art at the same time.

The keyboard alone... (oops no tubes there )

cheers

pffff...monophonic, only two oscillators...no presets...no contest!

I have absolutely no idea how it actually sounds, but when I read that the knifonium generates its noise with a tube & magnet I just found that so cool (in a nerdy way I guess but the thought of it is still intriguing).

It's ridiculous what's happening these days. Analog this, analog that, and it's all digital.

Analog is the new digital... And digital is now analog...

Oh God..

That description lends itself to mis-selling in my mind.

Another Virtual Synthesizer (like we don't have many to choose from already)is what it actually is. So many very good one's out there nowadays and these Developers know it hence descriptions on tube circuitry.

These descriptions are for the unaware to part with their money and believe that they are buying something unique.. like SWAN808 mentioned they should have jumped on the Oscillator count, but the Oscillator counts don't create the same initial interest as "Tubes" and "Analog" do they Air?

Jeeezzz, it clearly states that it is for Mac and Peecee ... so, those boxes run software, which is apparent even to my 10 year old nephew. and judging from Vacuum which is included in Pro Tools and if the pro version sounds like the pro version of it - then it does not have to hide behind any VI. For me Vacuum (from Pro Tools) is not only the best sounding included virtual analog VI in any DAW, but due to character it is one of my favorite virtual analog VIs - together with DIVA and ACE.

looking forward to it ....

If you are happy that you've found something that sits in the ball park as Urs creations (high praise!!) then . I guess.

But then from what I have seen Urs/U-he make clear that his work is software and just what he has achieved by emulating these circuits that he does so well. Compare his/u-he advertising with this, there is a difference.

I like the prospect of the other synthesizer they are releasing more than this one personally

Eric Barbour’s Experimental Metasonix Vacuum Tube Synthesizer

Just to name a few - and I got NO idea how anybody would squeeze more than two closely emulated tube stages from a current and ready available homecomputer. There are some machines that will, but you can't buy them outside the military.

Does anybody know what's up with the "NEW" Vacuum Vintage? Pluginboutiquie is currently selling as a crossgrade from Vacuum Pro?

But there isn't actually any useful information besides that V-Pro is polyphonic and Vintage is monophonic.
So is VIntage the followup product to Pro or the original Vacuum sold as somthing new? Will it replace Pro?

Any insights are very appreciated. I already ask AIR Support a few days back but they did not answer yet,
wonder if they ever will.

And why should I 'crossgrade' from a polyphonic synth to a monphonic?

AIR will not reply to your support request, sorry

I'd like to know too. The "Vintage" one is brand new but seems like a cut down version?

IMHO: yes. Vintage is monophonic, while Pro is 4 voice polyphony. Seems like downgrade to me.

Maybe it will replace / has replaced Vacuum Classic.

But I still see no benefit to invest in a monophonic Softsynth, even if it's just $10 (for now. Sale goes until end of July)

It's less about the money but fitting my style, for me. I mean I spent happly the dough for U-He Repro - as soon as they added the polyphonic version.
